01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

After visiting Daitokuji, you might be ready for a meal—or simply a coffee and something sweet. Café du Mon has options for either mood.

The lunch menu includes curry rice, a daily special and meat-sauce cheese doria. Some visitors to Daitokuji have chosen the daily lunch and meat doria, describing them as good value and tasty. Another visitor ordered Kyoto curry and enjoyed the miso soup. For a meat dish, there is a chicken bowl with chicken thigh sautéed in balsamic vinegar and soy sauce, as well as herb-grilled pork served with grilled vegetables and multigrain rice. These two rice dishes offer different flavours to choose from.

A distinctive choice for dessert is the café’s original baked goods made with Daitokuji natto. Canelés come in packs of 5, while chocolate canelés come in packs of 3; there is also a pound cake and canelé combination. One visitor noted that the canelés came in a small, single-serving pack of 5, and described enjoying them with coffee. For something different, look out for the daily fruit tart or mousse au chocolat. Drinks include coffee, matcha lattes, hojicha and flavoured tea; visitors have praised the matcha latte. There is also terrace seating for a meal or a break outdoors on a fine day.
